I swear by WD 40 for all kinds of paint removal.
Just spray a little on, wring your hands together and wash like normal.
From working on a farm for 11 years you were bound to run into days of painting. We always used a bit of diesel fuel. Nail polish remover may also work. Don't use gasoline.
Acetone (nail polish remover). That gets most stuff off but wash your hands after, then moisturise because it's very drying.

Is he from the Middle East? The reason why I ask that is because I happen to be in Egypt right now and it is extremely common to see men with one long, and I do mean loooong pinkie nail. I asked my father, who is Arab, about it, because I remember he always had one when I was a kid. He said they keep one nail long so they can scratch. I think that might have been a really nice way of saying scratching their ears and inside their noses, as well as other itchy areas.

And as long as his hands are really clean, I wouldn't worry about it. After all, my GYN has fairly long fingernails. Granted, she's a woman, but still, she keeps her hands really clean.

Back in the 80s, when I graduated from high school and went to college, you could always tell who did coke on a regular basis because they had a long pinkie nail somewhere (somewhere being limited to either the left or the right hand). I kind of doubt he's a coke fiend, as docs can get ahold of better quality drugs than street drugs, so my vote goes to handy scratcher of parts that need to be scratched.
And as I said, as long as he's keeping his hands clean, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Yes, I believe it does. Myself, I use OPI Matte Nail Envy, and do the whole gamit of cuticle oil, filing and shaping the nails and topping them off with the Nail Envy.
I have noticed whenever I give compliments to women who love to paint their nails they respond back thank you for noticing them and they show them off.
I don't really show them off so much as stare at them. I'll be doing something and then notice my pretty nails and admire them. I love wearing nail polish! It's not that im all that girly, but I really enjoy having my nails cool and shiny and metallic.

Help. i just put on fake nails and i dont know if im distroying my hands/fingers! help please?
I just bought and put on glue on nails for the first time. they look good but ive got some problems. Firstly, i think i have glue all over my fingers....but ive got compulsive skin picking disorder....so ive been with tweezers trying to get the skin on the tips of my fingers glue free but im not sure if its glue or skin im picking at. also, i noticed underneath the fakes my nails look really bad...reeally soft and terrible. like u know if u cut a nail with a bad clipper and if ur nails really soft or weak it will end up looking sort of frayed at the tip and underneath, with bits of a softer layer of your nail sticking out. well thats how they look and im not sure if its weak nail or glue and i am scared ive messed them up big time. i dont want to take off the fakes becuase i know there will be glue all over the surface of my nails and im terrified of having to deal with that and seeing how horrible i may have made them.Help. i just put on fake nails and i dont know if im distroying my hands/fingers! help please?

It's common to make mistakes the first time, I've worn glue on nails many times. My first time didn't turn out too well either and I used a bit too much glue which left a lot of dried residue on my nails and under the fakes. It also made them hard to take off and ended up hurting my real nails. However it's normal to have some dried residue left over. If you leave them on for a few days they usually just pop off eventually from the rigours of everyday life and to get off the residue just buff your nails or dip in acetone for a while.
I would not worry too much. The glue is probably CyanoAcrylate and is water soluable, it will fall off on its own in a day. Glue getting everywhere is what happens when you do it for the first time. Be happy that you feel they look nice except under close scrutinization. The glue should not effect your nails otherwise, they don't need to breath because they are comprised of dead keratin just like your hair. Maybe next time go to a salon and pay attention to how they do it.

I had those and now I have a permanet line down the middle of one nail and it splits into the quick and bleeds.it picks my dresses and my hose. i would love to have my normals nail back. but the so called profession ruined thast nail by introducing a fungus to my nail and the drug to cure it will damage my liver. stop with the fake nails. you can soak off the nails and the glue with acetone, they make a kind that removes fake nails.
buff your nails with a buffer to make them shine. wear gloves to stop with skin picking thing or take up sewing or someting to keep your hands busy. i assume your in counseling for this?
I would take them off. If you like having the strength of ';fake'; nails go see a professional nail salon and ask them to put on silk wraps or acrylics for you. It'll be more money but worth it because there will be nothing to pick off your skin. With fake nails you are supposed to take them off after a week or so. If you have ANY moisture trapped under those fake nails you will get nail mold and if it gets bad.. well i'll let you picture that one! I would invest your money on having a professional do your nails sweetie.
if you feel that you could be damaging your nails than you should remove them immediately before you get an infection
well, i am a compusive nail biter and always wear fake nails. the super glue on your fingers will come off soon, and the glue isn't damaging to your nails, after the fake nail comes off, how your finger and nail seems moist and weak afterwards is caused by lack of air (like when you have a bandaid on too long and take it off. After the finger gets some air that weakness will go away after about 30 min. The only thing thats really bad is pulling it off right after you put it on. After wearing them for about 2 days, (saying as you've taken 2 hot showers) they should come off easily, the same for the glue, just make your hands really hot, doing dishes is another good way. A good way to put them on without a mess is to put a couple drops on the real nail, then push the fake nail on for about 4 seconds, and quickly wipe the excess glue(if any) out of the corners of your nail. Your nails arent going to be damaged, worst case scenario if you don't feel like picking the dried glue off once u remove the nail, just give it a few days , or hell just nibble it off if your a nailbiter
Oh my dear, it is only nail glue. It shouldn't do any major damage to your natural nails,. especially if you only recently put them on. Go to the store and buy a block buffer, take your nails off, and GENTLY buff your nails with the buffer. This should remove any glue residue. And stop picking....lol. Hope this helps.

It's common to make mistakes the first time, I've worn glue on nails many times. My first time didn't turn out too well either and I used a bit too much glue which left a lot of dried residue on my nails and under the fakes. It also made them hard to take off and ended up hurting my real nails. However it's normal to have some dried residue left over. If you leave them on for a few days they usually just pop off eventually from the rigours of everyday life and to get off the residue just buff your nails or dip in acetone for a while.
I would not worry too much. The glue is probably CyanoAcrylate and is water soluable, it will fall off on its own in a day. Glue getting everywhere is what happens when you do it for the first time. Be happy that you feel they look nice except under close scrutinization. The glue should not effect your nails otherwise, they don't need to breath because they are comprised of dead keratin just like your hair. Maybe next time go to a salon and pay attention to how they do it.

I had those and now I have a permanet line down the middle of one nail and it splits into the quick and bleeds.it picks my dresses and my hose. i would love to have my normals nail back. but the so called profession ruined thast nail by introducing a fungus to my nail and the drug to cure it will damage my liver. stop with the fake nails. you can soak off the nails and the glue with acetone, they make a kind that removes fake nails.
buff your nails with a buffer to make them shine. wear gloves to stop with skin picking thing or take up sewing or someting to keep your hands busy. i assume your in counseling for this?
I would take them off. If you like having the strength of ';fake'; nails go see a professional nail salon and ask them to put on silk wraps or acrylics for you. It'll be more money but worth it because there will be nothing to pick off your skin. With fake nails you are supposed to take them off after a week or so. If you have ANY moisture trapped under those fake nails you will get nail mold and if it gets bad.. well i'll let you picture that one! I would invest your money on having a professional do your nails sweetie.
if you feel that you could be damaging your nails than you should remove them immediately before you get an infection
well, i am a compusive nail biter and always wear fake nails. the super glue on your fingers will come off soon, and the glue isn't damaging to your nails, after the fake nail comes off, how your finger and nail seems moist and weak afterwards is caused by lack of air (like when you have a bandaid on too long and take it off. After the finger gets some air that weakness will go away after about 30 min. The only thing thats really bad is pulling it off right after you put it on. After wearing them for about 2 days, (saying as you've taken 2 hot showers) they should come off easily, the same for the glue, just make your hands really hot, doing dishes is another good way. A good way to put them on without a mess is to put a couple drops on the real nail, then push the fake nail on for about 4 seconds, and quickly wipe the excess glue(if any) out of the corners of your nail. Your nails arent going to be damaged, worst case scenario if you don't feel like picking the dried glue off once u remove the nail, just give it a few days , or hell just nibble it off if your a nailbiter
Oh my dear, it is only nail glue. It shouldn't do any major damage to your natural nails,. especially if you only recently put them on. Go to the store and buy a block buffer, take your nails off, and GENTLY buff your nails with the buffer. This should remove any glue residue. And stop picking....lol. Hope this helps.

I would say I'm about average on painting my nails, even with my right hand (I am left-handed), but whenever I try to do the little designs - especially with the decorating brushes w/ the thin tips - it always looks really shaky and amateurish. So I was wondering how long it would take for me to get good at doing my nails - and how should I do it?

I dont know anything about nails, but what i would do is to do little designs on paper with your right hand and just keep practicing until ur ready and i would do the pinky nail first so you can put your hand more freely. hoped this helped =)

yeah I dont think i would dip them in the parrafin it proabably woulnt loosen them but fake nails are not very clean alot of stuff might be hideing under there and that stuff might stick to your parrafin and bacteria likes warm unless you change the parrafin everytime you use it or if you clean your nails very well with like a nail brush and antibacterial soap then you might be ok.

Apparently my work is having a couple of people in to fix a few things (my work is paying them next to nothing, so we have to supply the tools), and I need to find them these tools before they arrive.
I tried my local DIY shop, but after sitting there for about 40 minutes the man told me there are none in stock at the moment.

It takes a lot of will power but youcan do it!

also, keep a watch on your diet. make sure you get plenty od calcium. it'll keep your nails strong and healthy!

Your hands will feel great because they are receiving moisture from the baby oil and the lotion.

You have to use thick lotion, like cocoa butter or something. And this is wierd, but try to only put it on your knuckles and rub from there - I have the same problem and cocoa butter works great ,but if I put it all over my hands my palms look shiny and greasy - yuck! The cocoa butter will help if you rub it around your cuticles too. If it gets REALLY bad, then put petroleum jelly all over your hands and cover them with socks and sleep like that. It's kind of lame but I do it sometimes =) You take off the sock in the morning and your hands are so soft!

And this is wierd, but try to only put it on your knuckles and rub from there - I have the same problem and cocoa butter works great ,but if I put it all over my hands my palms look shiny and greasy - yuck! The cocoa butter will help if you rub it around your cuticles too. If it gets REALLY bad, then put petroleum jelly all over your hands and cover them with socks and sleep like that. It's kind of lame but I do it sometimes =) You take off the sock in the morning and your hands are so soft!

I really don't go searching for every thing I like in hands. But I comment women at my work, as they shop for jewelry or when they check out. However, my elders like to hold hands and that is how my hands are usually analyzed. Other times it's the same way I notice others... when I'm out shopping I'd try bracelets or rings on.
I have never had a manicure before, if that helps any.

A guitar question; How short do I have to keep the nails on my fretting hand?
I clip my nails as far as I can without drawing blood. But they're still at the tip of my finger. This makes it extremely difficult to play chords. Either because I can't press a string down without my nail hitting the fret board, or because I end up muting the next string over.
I just started playing guitar a week ago, so I know that nothing is supposed to come easy at first. But this seems more like a physical limitation than a learning curve.

Don't worry at all, everyone has trouble to not mute the next string over when they start. And everyone has this particular problem when they start out playing guitar, that fingers do not rest on strings with the pads but tend toward a ninety degree touching of the fret board.
You just have to stick at it! A week is nothing, and, if you keep it up, then after a few weeks (or maybe longer, I can't remember how long it takes) you'll get there, and it will come naturally.

Are your fingers thick/fat and short. If you look at all the Super Guitarists, you will always notice that their fingers are thin and long. This allows them to really get the fancier chord shapes.
So, your nails may not be the problem.
BUT, just keep practicing. It takes months/years to become a great guitarist.
It sounds as if your nails should be short enough. I think this is just a matter of practice and getting the feel of the fretboard. Stick with it, and I think you'll be OK. Good luck.
Well, I play guitar and I have to cute my nails down to the skin, which is probably right where you cut your nails down to. Just keep them as low as you can, and try as hard as you can press the string down. I know, it's very very hard in the beginning. It may help if you lift your wrist so it is in more of an arch shape. It's not the most comfortable position for your arm, but it will probably help your fingers. Also, if you have an acoustic guitar, you do need to press really really hard to get the right sound to come out. Also, try to arch your fingers.

You may need an instrument with a wider neck. Try a classical guitar and if you want electronic amplification, there are adapters that can be installed. Check out your local music store and talk to them. I agree. No one should have to give up music. If he entertains no one else, he can entertain himself which is the first person he should be trying to entertain anyway.

You can set your hands in a bowl of nail polish remover! It really works, especially for me! I have dyed my hair in brown dye, and it went all over my hands and i had to be at a meeting so i tried nail polish remover.

IF you are getting a jet hand spray tan; do you do your nails after , or can you do it before the spray tan???
You can do either way, because before you go in to get the spray tan, you put this cream called ';barrier cream'; on your hands and feet, so they don't get tan, and get your palms and feet all orangey because the skin there is different than your arms and legs, so the chemicals react differently.
So whatever you feel like doing I'd say.IF you are getting a jet hand spray tan; do you do your nails after , or can you do it before the spray tan???

i play electric guitar but i am also tr yin to learn classical guitar (which you have to pick with your fingernails) but the problem is that i have very thin fingernails that will not grow long enough fo me to pick with, so if i were to get fake nails put on my picking hand and then get them properly shaped could i use them to pick With or would they just be a hindrance in anyway? As they begin to grow energize them with a nail file, but gently, removing very little of the nail. Simply shape them and this process helps the nails to grow.
I use all my nails in fingerstyle picking on regular steel-stringed acoustics and they do well. When one of them breaks I immediately file and reshape the culprit, keep the cuticle pressed back, and baby it for a while.Can i play classical guitar with acrylic nails? (on my picking hand)?

Does anybody have some tips for painting the finger nails on my right hand with my left hand?

I do have eczema and it is basically the same effect as what you have. This is what I do: Jafra body oil 2 or 3x a day on the effected areas for as long as nessesary. If you use regular lotions they contain alcohol and dry the skin even more. If you can't get jafra then use vaseline. Jafra is just more pleasant to use. It has pretty much cured the eczema problem for me and totally fixed the mess called my feet. i no longer need to scrape or buff or anything. Try this:

Using hand creams and lotions are alright for an immediate effect, but for a lasting effect use vitamins containing v/E, and Cod liver oil. Cooking with olive oil has been know to lower cholesterol and help luster skin and hair.
i use to be a CNA and the powdered gloves dry your hands out so bad...a cheep good lotion is the hemp lotion you can buy it at walmarts hope it helps you

How to neatly paint the nails on your right hand, when you are right handed?
Ok, so i live with my boyfriend who would be mortified if i asked him to help. But im sick of buying really nice nail polish, only to have it look a state on my right hand, because i cannot paint it properly. it never looks smooth, and i always need to tidy it up with nail varnish remover on a cotton bud. Does anyone have any tips on how to neatly paint the hand you paint with? (lefties, with the left, righties the right)

The day after when they're dry, pick at the paint a little and whatever is on your skin comes off real easy and it looks the same as if you took the time to clean it up with acetone. But saves a lot of time.

How can I do fretboard tapping on my elec. guitar if my picking hand has long nails (for classical)?
I play fingerstyle and classical guitar, but also electric. I have to grow my nails long for classical guitar, and I don't want to use fake nails (it doesn't work very well and my technique would have to be changed). When I play electric, I can do simple one-finger tapping by angling my finger so the nail is out of the way, but it isn't as articulate because I can't use the tip of my finger. Multiple-finger tapping is pretty much impossible, I've tried but I just can't get the sound out because I have to change the position of my fingers so much.

I stared working at a Deli, been there for about 4 weeks now. My nails are cracking and peeling on both hands...but on my right hand in the past week where they are peeling are just breaking of so i got really short nails on some of my right hand fingers. Usually this would not bother me but it hurts cos they are getting low. Would this be because I'm putting a glove on my hand and taking it of so many times? like the moisture? I'm 65 years old and have cracks in the skin on my hands and feet. My nails are also cracked and some are deformed. If anybody can give me some ideas and what causes this I would appreciate it. I'm a makeup artist, I have grease paint, brush cleaner, 99% alcohol, and all sorts of other muck on my hands all the time, i also have to wash them constantly. I've been a nail biter most of my life and only recently have I started to care for my nails, and I find they're always either dingy or incredibly dry. Well you could use plastic gloves, but doing that would probaly screw up the ppls faces when you rub in the makeup. Your hands will get dirty! but to keep your nails clean and aviod chipping nail polish you put clear nail polish over your nails, lotion would be great cuz ur hands always get washed. but make sure you but the lotion on like 20 min before you start work.. but if you want your nails to be longer get that nailpolish with like green tea in it, or to save money, try making green tea and pouring some of it into a nail polsih bottle with clear nail polish....

Your hands will get dirty! but to keep your nails clean and aviod chipping nail polish you put clear nail polish over your nails, lotion would be great cuz ur hands always get washed. but make sure you but the lotion on like 20 min before you start work.. but if you want your nails to be longer get that nailpolish with like green tea in it, or to save money, try making green tea and pouring some of it into a nail polsih bottle with clear nail polish....

you should probably try nail polish remover again - try soaking your hands in it/splashing it all over your hands and leaving it for a few minutes then see what happens
if this doesnt work try something like turps or paint stripper - which might damage your skin im not sure but it will def. get the polish off your hands

it depends on what you're wearing, color of hair, color of eyes and such. I would have to say stay away from red red unless you're older. A nice mild pink is probably the sexiest! Don't go for something too bright and flashy, and too long of nails just attract the wrong kind of guy.
